Standard- and High- Definition Real-Time Video Coding: H.264/AVC and Beyond

Project Summary

The main goal of this project is to design efficient algorithms for H.264/AVC video coding. In particular, our research work focuses on motion estimation, mode decision, rate control and perceptual video coding.
Currently our work is looking at the two recent initiatives of MPEG regarding video coding:

  • High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)
  • 3D Video
