Dr. Daniel Martínez-Ávila is a professor at the Department of Information Science, São Paulo State University (UNESP), Marília, Brazil. He received his Ph.D. from Charles III University of Madrid (Spain) in 2012 under the supervision of Rosa San Segundo and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Emeritus Professor Hope Olson. After completing his Ph.D., he was hired as Researcher and Adjunct Instructor at the School of Information Studies at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2013. During his time in the United States, he worked with Professor Richard P. Smiraglia and taught courses on knowledge organization and information literacy. In 2014, he was hired as a tenured professor by the Graduate School of Information Science at São Paulo State University, Brazil. His main research interests include knowledge organization, critical theory, and research methods.
