Pedro Valiente is an award winning filmmaker with experience in directing, writing and production. Born in Spain, he has lived ten years in New York and five in Mexico City.

He has directed films, television, and theater. He has developed visual work and writing including a drama book (naque.es). He worked for three years with director Robert Wilson.

He has received over forty honors, two awards at Berlinale, Emmy Nominee and National Geographic Prize. His work has been selected at festivals, art centers and television ?Sundance, MoMa, Whitney Biennial, Lincoln Center, Harvard University, PBS, BBC, TVE and Canal Plus. His projects have been featured in over 200 media in twenty countries.

He has been director of international relations at New York Film Academy, and he is member of MEDIA List of Experts/European Union.

He is working at "Documentary Film" mooc for edX online platform by MIT and Harvard University, and at "Crossing Stages European Project".

PhD cum laude Audiovisual Communication, he is associate professor at UC3M (Spain), and visiting professor at Tec de Monterrey (Mexico).

EXPERIENCE

UNITED STATES
Director of documentary feature film "New York Spin", Project Involve Honoree Independent Feature Project New York, Best Documentary Nominee Roma Independent Film Festival; selected at near 40 festivals in twelve countries.

Video designer collaborator of multimedia play "The Days Before" by Robert Wilson, produced by Lincoln Center and Théâtre Bobigny.

Producer of documentary short film "Cuba 15" by Elizabeth Schub, Jury Prize Best Short Film and Audience Award Berlinale/Panorama, Emmy Award Nominee, National Geographic Award, Best Short Film at 12 festivals, aired on six countries.

He received the highest Ministry of Culture/Fulbright Grant in Spain in 1994 for filmmaking studies in New York, where he participated in productions by Steven Soderbergh and Spike Lee. He collaborated at Vivendi Universal, NBC, and Time Warner.

LATIN AMERICA
He has worked in Latin America including five years in Mexico where he directed Cancun Riviera Maya International Film Festival, and worked at Televisa as director of series and coordinator of the film event Espacio Cine. He directed the performance "Flying Fish Over Mexico" at National Center for the Arts.

EUROPE
He collaborated at National Center for New Performing Arts and Universidad Complutense. He founded a university theater company, Tilmun Teatro, where he directed Madrid premieres by Bernard-Marie Koltès, Sergi Belbel, and Julio Cortázar. He began his career as a writer for performing arts magazine El Público, and journalist for Spanish Television (TVE).
