Intelligent System Lab (LSI) UC3M research group has launched a promising collaboration with the high-tech start-up SigmaRail, incubated by ESA BIC Madrid Region - UC3M Hub. SigmaRail brings an innovative solution to the railway industry composed by intelligent UAVs and nesting platforms enhancing traditional tasks such as signalling, maintenance and surveillance of the rail corridor. Image recognition and advanced satellite navigation techniques are the backbone of the company.
The developed algorithm has ranked 19th out of over 2,000 registered teams. It is able to perform both detection and tracking of several vehicles in 360º. Moreover, it operates in real-time (~10 FPS), thus being suitable for self-driving applications.
