  • On 02 Nov. 2016, Francisco Miguel Moreno defensed and presented his master thesis, entitled "Fusión Multi-Sensorial en Mapas de Ocupación". It was under the supervision of Dr. D. Martín and Eng. P. Marín-Plaza.
  • On 26 Oct. 2016, Luis Javier San Jose defensed and presented his master thesis, entitled "Inspección técnica de fachadas mediante un sistema de visión tridimensional embarcado en un dron". It was under the supervision of Dr. F. García.

  • On 21 Jul. 2016, Ahmed Radwan & Omar Mohyeldin defensed and presented their bachelor thesis as visiting students from GUC. The theses are entitled "Design and Test a Control System for a Quadcopter" and "Design and Test Wireless Communication Protocol for Autonomous Vehicles" respectively.

  • On 20 Jul. 2016, LSI members are gathered for their annual group photo for the fall of 2015/2016. A total of 25 members attended the photo-shoot.
  • On 19 Jun. 2016, LSI conducted a successful workshop within the Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV’2016) with F. García as the session Chairman and A. Hussein as Co-chairman. At the workshop, authors presented their latest work regarding autonomous vehicles in off-road scenarios with full audience participation.
  • On 14 Jun. 2016, LSI will host the 6th doctoral meeting starting from 15:00. At which M.J. Gómez, C. Guindel, P. Marín and A. Hussein presented their annual progress of their PhD. The presentations were streamed online through this link .

  • On 22 Apr. 2016, Ahmed Hussein gave an online seminar (webinar) about "Unmanned Ground Vehicles". This is one of the webinars that helps participating teams in constructing the demining robots for Minesweepers competition.

  • On 22 Jan. 2016, reporters from TVE "Seguridad Vital" interviewed LSI members about the latest research updates of Unmanned Ground Vehicles and recording several experiments performed by the IVVI 2.0 and iCab platforms.
  • On 12 Jan. 2016, Ms. Francine Galvez from TVE interviewed LSI members about the latest research updates of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and recording several experiments performed by the Drone.

  • On 17 Dec. 2015, LSI members are gathered for the yearly reunion to review the achievements during 2015. Afterwards, they are joined by former members and alumni of the group for Christmas Dinner of 2015.
  • On 10 Dec. 2015, LSI hosted a visit of few members from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the presence of the Deputy Director of Coordination of Research Activities Department and Engineers from MAN AG.
    The visit included experiments demo for our 3 main platforms (iCab, IVVI 2.0 & Drone).
  • On 19 Nov. 2015, A. Ponz started "LSI Talks", where the members of the group practice their English and Presentation skills on biweekly basis. The idea is a bit similar to "Toastmasters Madrid".
  • On 6 Nov. 2015, Dr. F. García and Dr. D. Martín gave a lecture about Autonomous Vehicles to high school students as a part of the "Semana de la Ciencia 2015" (Madrid Science Week 2015).
  • On 24 Jul. 2015, Gustavo Adolfo Peláez defensed and presented his doctoral thesis, entitled "Monitoring the driver's activity using 3D information".
    The work was under the supervision of Prof. J.M. Armingol &
    Dr. A. de la Escalera.
  • On 16 Jul. 2015, Hesham Nounou & Ossama El-Hammady defensed and presented their bachelor thesis as visiting students from GUC. The theses are entitled "Vision-based surveillance system for counting people using small quadcopter" and "Outdoors odometry and mapping for autonomous golf carts" respectively.
    The work was under the supervision of Master Engineers

  • On 6 Jul. 2015, LSI members collaborated in the "Summer Campus for Scientists", which was organized by and hosted at UC3M, and where a total of approximately 120 students participated in the Robotics courses.
  • On 18 Jun. 2015, LSI hosted the 4th doctoral meeting. At which
    A. Al-Kaff, P. Marín and A. Hussein presented their annual progress of their PhD. The talks were streamed live over the internet.
  • On 15 May 2015, Dr. F. García gave a seminar at University of Parma in Italy about Data Fusion on Intelligent Transport Systems. The attendees were doctoral Students from the Computer Science Engineering major.
  • On 22 Apr. 2015, LSI hosted a demo session for the 3 main platforms IVVI 2.0, iCab & Drone.
  • On 29 Jan. 2015, Basam Musleh defensed and presented his doctoral thesis, entitled "Análisis de entornos urbanos de tráfico y estimación del movimiento del vehículo para el desarrollo de sistemas avanzados de ayuda a la conducción".
    The work was under the supervision of Dr. A. de la Escalera & Prof. J.M. Armingol.
