Dámaso de Lario is an independent scholar. Ph History (1974), Diploma in International Studies (1976). As a career diplomat (1977-2018) he has been posted to Madrid, the former Yugoslavia, Jordan, Australia, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Venezuela and France. Since 2018 he is rank Ambassador. As a historian he has published several studies and books on institutional history, such as Al Hilo del Tiempo. Controles y Poderes de una España Imperial (València, 2004) and has edited Re-Shaping the World. Philip II and His Time (Manila, 2008). The history of secular university colleges and the education of bureaucratic elites in Modern Spain are his main areas of interest. He is writing a Biographical Dictionary of Spanish elite colleges students.
