Jose Maria Nus was appointed as a Senior Executive Vicepresident of Risk of Santander Group in October 2014.
Previously, Jose Maria was an Executive Director (member of the Board) and Chief-Risk-Officer of Santander UK from 2011, based in London. He is a FSA person approved.
Before his British experience, Jose Maria was an Executive Director (member of the Board) and Senior Executive Vicepresident of Risks of Banesto a Spanish leading bank within the Santander Group.
Prior to joining Banesto he was Executive Vicepresident of Risk of Argentaria (now BBVA) and he held top management positions at Bankinter, at that time a joint-venture between Santander and Bank of America. Jose Maria belonged to the Board of Directors of Santander UK, Banesto, Banco de Vitoria, Banco Hipotecario, Banco de Crédito Local, Banco de Alicante and Unitaria.
Jose Maria Nus is member of the Board of the Catalan Economic Society, a think tank based in Barcelona. He was also member of the Board of the Banesto Foundation and The Spanish Observatory for Multinationals, Madrid.
He has degrees in Business Administration, Economics and Political Science and an academic admiration for Locke, Darwin and Keynes. Married, 3 children, 4 grandchildren (some of them living in Cambridge, UK).
