RESEARCH STAY AT UC3M: LIBRARY SCIENCE AND DOCUMENTATION

PROJECT: Professor Jane Greenberg’s program agenda for the Catedras Excelencia, at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, will extend research in the area of metadata, semantics and ontologies. She will address specific questions targeting the generation and quality assurance of structured metadata. Her research seeks to emphasize the link between the folksonomic way field scientists work as a necessary step to structured and regulated taxonomic information and knowledge organization. The long-term goal is to leverage Semantic Web technologies and contribute to a more robust information infrastructure using linked data. Professor Greenberg will work with colleagues in the Librarianship and Information Science Department, and extend an earlier collaboration sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation, as well as a current collaboration sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
